What is the meaning of Onychomycosis :
Onychomycosis is a condition that affects about 6-8% of the American population. Onychomycosis describes a fungus infection of the nails.
It generally involves any part of the nail including nail matrix, nail plate, or nail bed. It is not a life threatening condition but has the tendency to be painful and cause discomfort.
The most common form of Onychomycosis is called Trichophyton rubrum. This type will cause skin infections that appears as scaling extending up the sides of the feet. It looks like dry skin so often goes unattended at first.
